The department is to deal with almost all Emergency and Critical care problems. The Intensive Care Unit may immerge as one of the largest in Nagpur City presently having more than 15 beds, and very soon to inaugurate 30 more bedded unit on newly constructed 4th floor. The set up is state of art having Intensive Trauma care Unit, Surgical ICU and Medical ICU which has experienced staff and has facility of emergency consultations from all faculties.


Facilities available:

Trauma ICU

A round the clock trauma care service in close collaboration with a team of neuro surgeons, Orthopaedic surgeon, General surgeon, Plastic, Vascular surgeon and Anesthesiologist is available,

Medical ICU

Provides able care to all kind of medical emergencies including

  • Cardiac and coronary care
  • Neurology emergency and critical care
  • Pulmonary and chest care

Surgical ICU

Regularly takes care of all major post operative critical patients including,
  • Neurosurgery and head injury
  • Maxilofacial injury
  • Major surgical cases
  • Orthopedic Surgery and Joint replacement

Equipments available:
  1. Ventilators including Servo i 900, dragger, BIPAP machines etc with almost a ratio of one for every two beds including the newer 4th floor ICU.
  2. Monitors multipara Philips monitors well equipped with all basic parameters including EtCO2 and 2 invasive Pressure monitoring or every bed.
  3. Defibrillators (biphasic)are in good working condition always ready for emergencies.
  4. Central Oxygen, Suction with Compressed air along with inverter backup for whole ICU.
  5. Cardiac Output monitors (PICCO) 2 in number are available.
  6. ICU equipped with trained staff, all emergency drugs and equipments.
