Supportive departments and laboratories like pathology Clinical Biochemistry,Microbiology and RIA lab, Cath-lab, NCV/EMG/Ep lab are functioning. We have well ewuipped 3 operating rooms with all the necessary facilites to carry out all types of surgical procedures along with two beded recovery room. In addition we have sixteen beds in critical care services(ICU I, ICU II, and CCU). More information about each department is mentioned department.

Our Institute, being a multispeciality medical institute where most of the consultant staff of the consultant staff is working almost full-time, the resident staff being on duty round the clock and supportive departments/lab services being available it can handle nearly all types of the patients in the specialities mentioned earlier.

The consultant staff and the staff in the basic research being highly qualified, the institute undertaken clinical and basic sciences research activity all the time.

Special equipments available
  • Digital EEG maching(make 9)
  • Neuromatic 2000C - two channel EMG/EP Dantac.
  • RMS EMG/EP Machine.
  • In addition planned for Video EEG in the year 2004-2005.

The Department of Pathology came into existence on 1st August, 1987. Initially the laboratory was open only in the OPD hours. It started in a modest way where only a few biochemical and pathological tests could be performed. Now the laboratory is well equipped with a large number of modern and sophisticated instruments. The workload has also increased from 200 to 300 patients per month in the early years to more than 1500 patients per month. The laboratory is in a position to perform over 100types of tests which caters to almost all the needs of the patients. The services of the department are available round the clock for one who needs them in emergency since August 1992.

Pathology Lab
The Department has an auto-analyzer photometer-4020 from Hitachi for all biochemical parameters, EM2-100 Sodium Potassium analyzer and ABL-50 blood gas analyzer from Radiometer, Denmark. It also has PCE 170 particle counter ERMA for haematogical tests and Eliza reader and a Shandon's Cytospin in which fluids can be centrifuged. Even very small number of cells present can be studied. Thus it is providing
very useful cytological studies in all body fluids including CSF.It also has a semiantamated coagulometer from Sigma Company for doing coagulation studies.

In biochemistry department nearly all biochemistry tests necessary in the diagnosis of common diseases like diabetes, hepatitis, heart attack are done daily. It also performs some of the most modern tests like glycosylated haemoglobin, micral, homocystine in urine, Magnesium etc. In RIA lab thyroid function tests are done daily.
Biochemistry department is also assisting in research work conducted by research department. Automated systems used here have decreased the chances of hand on errors. Mrs. Neha Agrawal looks after the clinical biochemistry section.

Since the appointment of a technician for histopathological work, all the processing & staining can be done in-house only. We have also started doing special stains on histopathology slides on regular basis In future we aim to start immuno histochemistry and immunocyto chemistry lab thus aiding in patient care and also helping in research.

With the help of cameras attached to microscope microphotography is done routinely.

We also have microscope attached to computer and to TV camera thus pathologic slides can be shown to a large number of people at one time. This is very useful for teaching and presenting cases for clinical discussions.

The department has an autoanalyser Photometer 4020 from Hitachi & ERBA CHEM RRO from Transasia for all biochemical parameters, EML 100 Sodium Potassium analyser & ABL 50 Blood Gas Analyser from Denmark. It also has Gamma Counter IC 4702A from ECI Limited fro RIA Lab.

In Biochemistry department nearly all routine biochemistry tests are done. It also performs some special tests like glycolated haemoglobin, Micral, Ammonia Lactate, Lipase, Magnesium etc. Department is quality conscious and routinely doing external quality control and internal quality control.. Recently it has enrolled with ACBI/EMCH, External Quality assessment scheme EQAS 2004.

The Pathology department does the basic tests which are useful in diagnosis of tumors from various sites. At times intraoperative cytology is also done determine the amount of tissue to be removed. With the amount of Neuropathalogical work increasing, steps are being taken to develop neuropathology

Microbiology facilities which till recently were not well developed have been strengthened by joining of Dr. Sanjay Gaval with an experience of 7 years as a lecturer in GMC Nagpur. Now this department is progressing by leaps and bounds. Within a year it has been observed that the number of samples are increasing and the patients are beings benefited by his experience. Anaerobic and fungal culture have also been started.
From the start of the institute we have been having clinical research activities. Our research work is presented in local conferences at Nagpur as well as in the National conference. Technicians are being trained regularly.
Dr. S.M. Vyawahare a well known senior pathologist of this region is also with us on honorary basis to strengthen our pathology department.

THE EMERGENCY SERVICES OF THIS DEPARTMENT ARE AVAILABLE ROUND THE CLOCK AND OUTSIDE CONSULTANTS CAN ALSO UTILIZE THE FACILITIES.
